Actor Shefali Jariwala, famously known as the ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl, died on Saturday after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest. She was 42. Soon after the news surfaced online, many took to their respective social media accounts to express grief and shock. Some even turned to Shefali’s social media handles to find updates. While the actor had shared a series of pictures just three days ago on her Instagram handle with the caption “Bling it on baby”, her X handle had a picture with her ex-boyfriend, late actor Sidharth Shukla. She posted the picture on his third death anniversary on September 2, last year.
Sharing a heartwarming picture with the late actor, Shefali wrote, “Thinking of you today mere dost.” In the picture, Shefali could be seen giving a tight hug to the Balika Vadhu actor on the sets of Bigg Boss 13 with a huge smile on her face. Sidharth Shukla died at the age of 40 in 2021 after suffering a heart attack.

These posts attracted a lot of attention post her sudden death with many commenting, “No way she is no more,” and “RIP”. Other comments read, “Absolutely devastating to see this post now. The irony of life. Rest in peace, Shefali.” Another person commented, “To all the people who spewed venom here who don’t even know her personally. She is no more , and just like that , your negative sulking bitter comments will be forever there in someone’s last post . Om shanti.”
Shefali Jariwala dated Sidharth Shukla about 15 years ago when they both worked on television. Despite their breakup, they two remained good friends. In a 2020 interview with BollywoodLife, she had shared, “Both of us are very logical people. Also, we have similar interests, we would talk about travel, space, bullet trains and whatnot. Even after we stopped dating, we were always cordial whenever we bumped into each other.”
Shefali tied the knot with television star Parag Tyagi in 2014. She rose to fame in the early 2000s with the viral “Kaanta Laga” song. She further worked in several movies and television shows. On Friday, the actress was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai. She was declared dead upon arrival.
The cause of Shefali’s death is yet to be confirmed with sources suggesting she may have suffered a cardiac arrest. Shefali’s husband and family are yet to issue an official statement.
