Actor Kajol has been busy promoting her upcoming horror film, Maa, which is slated to release on June 27. During the film’s promotions, Kajol opened up about experiencing some eerie moments at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. She described the famous film studio as “one of the most haunted locations in the world.” She immediately received lots of backlash on social media following her remark, and many even accused her of being jealous of the Telugu industry. On Monday evening, Kajol issued a clarification on social media.

She took to X and wrote, “I wish to address my earlier remark about Ramoji Film City in the context of promoting my film MAA. I have filmed multiple projects at Ramoji Film City and stayed there many times over the years. I have always found it to be a very professional environment for filmmaking, and I have seen so many tourists enjoying themselves. It’s a great destination and absolutely safe for families and children.”

Here’s what Kajol had said earlier about Ramoji Film City

“There are a lot of places where we have been, stayed there, and even shot at, but we couldn’t sleep the whole night. Or we felt like getting out of there would become a big deal, and that we would never come back there. There are many places, but one prime example is Ramoji Rao Studios in Hyderabad itself, which is considered one of the most haunted places in the world. A few times I have felt, oh God, but he has taken care of me, and I haven’t encountered a ghost in person to date.”

Maa is a part of the Shaitaan universe of horror films. The first film, starring Ajay Devgn, was a massive hit. A sequel is said to be going into production soon. Maddock Films has already set up a successful horror comedy universe, inspiring other Bollywood production houses to follow.
