After teasing his next film with a cryptic post earlier this year, filmmaker Karan Johar has finally unveiled the teaser of Dharma Productions’ upcoming release Sarzameen, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kajol, and Ibrahim Ali Khan in the lead roles. The thriller will premiere directly on JioHotstar on July 25.

Sharing a one-and-a-half minute long glimpse of the film on his Instagram handle, Johar wrote, “Sarzameen ki salamati se badhkar kuch nahi. #Sarzameen, releasing July 25, only on @jiohotstar!”

Sarzameen tells the story of an army officer, played by Prithviraj Sukumaran, who will stop at nothing to free the Kashmir Valley from terrorism. Ibrahim Ali Khan sheds his good-boy image to play a terrorist locked in a deadly face-off with Prithviraj. Kajol, meanwhile, appears to play Prithviraj’s wife.

In an interview with Variety last year, Kajol opened up about working with Prithviraj and Ibrahim. “I’ve worked with Prithviraj [Sukumaran] for the first time and he’s absolutely wonderful to work with and so was Ibrahim [Ali Khan], so I think it’s going to be quite interesting to see both of them on screen,” she said.

Sarzameen Sarzameen will stream on JioHotstar.

Directed by Kayoze Irani, the film was wrapped up by the end of 2023 and was supposed to be Ibrahim Ali Khan’s debut film, but was delayed by a few months.
