Ever wondered about the afterlife? What must it be like after you close your eyes for the final time? Well, the studio A24 is coming up with their own idea of an afterlife with the film Eternity, starring Miles Teller, Elisabeth Olsen, Callum Turner, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and John Early. Directed by David Freyne, the movie follows a sort of bridge between life and eternity, where the people who have just passed away must decide how they are going to spend the rest of time, and most importantly, who they are going to spend it with.

Teller, who plays the character of Larry, finds himself suddenly pulling up to the ‘junction,’ the aforementioned bridge. The junction is filled with Wes Anderson-like colours, where Larry and his sideburns try to come to grips with the fact that he is in fact dead. He even gets appointed an ‘afterlife coordinator’ who explains to him the entire idea behind the junction and how he has to choose where he is going to spend eternity and with whom. Soon his wife Joan (Olsen) also joins him in the afterlife, and she seems much more accepting of the fact that her life on Earth is over.

As the couple rejoice at the idea of getting to spend the rest of eternity with each other, they are hit with a huge twist as Olsen’s ex-husband Luke (Callum Turner) also comes into the junction. The trailer shows a positive side of the afterlife and makes one wonder about the existence of such a blissful place. Judging from certain shots, it seems that the people at the junction get a chance to preview the locations before choosing their final destination, as we see Olsen spending time with Luke and Larry at different scenic locations as she tries to choose between her first love and her current husband. Both men lay it bare as Luke seems to be playing the role of the first love to perfection, while Larry tries to make his wife remember why she fell for him in the first place.

A24 hasn’t announced the final release date, but Eternity will be coming out in November.
