A star studded re-release premiere of Rekha-starrer evergreen film Umrao Jaan was hosted in Mumbai on Thursday night. The film is ready for a big screen release once again. Many celebrities made it to celebrate Rekha and some inside photos, loaded with admirations for the ace actor, have been shared on social media.

The veteran actor Rekha looked stunning as always, dressed in an ivory and gold outfit, along with traditional jewellery, while Alia Bhatt, made it to the Umrao Jaan re-release premiere, in a pink saree, which looked like her tribute to Rekha’s Silsila look.

In a photo, Alia Bhatt and Rekha were seen flipping through the pages of the coffee table book on Umrao Jaan.

Before making it to the premiere night, Janhvi Kapoor also shared a reel on the song ‘In Aankhon Ki Masti’ and wrote, “For my Pedamma ❤️ #UmraoJaan the classic, in theatres all over India from tomorrow ❤️.” Janhvi Kapoor looked stunning dressed in an anarkali suit.

Fatima Sana Shaikh too shared a bunch of picture from the re-release premiere event of Umrao Jaan. In one of the photos, Fatima was seen sitting in Rekha’s lap, while in another click she took a selfie with Jackie Shroff, Tabu, and Vijay Varma. She was also seen posing with Vijay Varma, Nushrratt Bharuccha and ace designer Manish Malhotra in another click. Fatima also posted some clips from the film and wrote, “Watched Umrao Jaan on the big screen..and what a surreal experience it was. Every time Rekhaji appeared, all of us gasped. Her eyes, her stillness, her grace… uff! it’s impossible to look away. I am in love with her♥️ she is magic. ✨And It was beautiful to see the industry come together to celebrate her.”

Actor Vijay Varma shared his look for the night via his Instagram account and wrote, “Rekha ji ke pyaar mein hum sab ❤️ @vrindaanarang brought this lovely look by @nikhilthampi .. perfect for Umrao Jaan screening.”

Actor Nimrat Kaur too shared her view on the film and also paid a sweet tribute to Rekha via her Instagram stories.

Set in the 19th century, the film Umrao Jaan traces Amiran’s (Rekha) arrival in a brothel in Lucknow and her relationships with three key characters played by Farooque Shaikh, Raj Babbar, and Naseeruddin Shah.

The restored version of Muzzafar Ali’s Umrao Jaan is set to re-release in theatres on June 27. The movie was restored by the National Film Development Corporation-National Film Archive of India under the National Film Heritage Mission.
