The Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has likely approved a ₹20,000 crore research and development fund focused on sunrise sectors, according to an ET Now report, citing sources.
The proposed fund aims to promote research, innovation, and development in emerging industries. As per the ET Now sources, the support may also extend to manufacturing activities within these sectors to strengthen domestic capabilities.
Alongside, the Cabinet has reportedly given its nod to the National Sports Policy. The policy is expected to guide the overall development of sports infrastructure and performance across the country.
Further details of both decisions are awaited from an official announcement. The Cabinet meeting is scheduled for 11 am today.
