Hailey Bieber opened up about her postpartum journey and how tough it was to navigate that phase while hate comments flooded her social media feed. The RHODE founder sat down with Vogue Italia and recalled a near-death experience, when doctors decided to induce labour after she experienced fluid leakage in her 39th week of pregnancy. The 28-year-old also spoke about Justin being a wonderful father to their son, Jack Blues. She spoke about his “worsening mental health” and being “in the throes of a spiralling mental disorder.”
Hailey Bieber struggles to accept her pregnancy
Hailey and Justin welcomed Jack Blues Bieber last year, and the couple celebrated their pregnancy while renewing their wedding vows in a private Hawaiian ceremony. The model, who married the popstar at 21, revealed she always wanted to be a mother after watching her older sister give birth to a baby girl. But when it was her turn, she admitted, “I wasn’t ready for something like this at all.” Though she remembered being happy about the journey and said she loved her body more than ever before, things changed once she hit the postpartum phase. An early labour experience shook her, and she said it’s never going to feel the same again. “Giving birth was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” she said.
Hailey recalled the pressure kept piling. Way before the due date, she began leaking amniotic fluid. Doctors decided to induce labour with oxytocin, used to trigger contractions, and “a Foley balloon, a catheter-like device inserted into the uterus and inflated with a saline solution to dilate the cervix.” She said it was the most painful thing she’s ever endured. But when Jack arrived, “in all his eight-pound glory,” she was just relieved he was healthy.
The real scare began afterwards. Hailey started bleeding heavily. As doctors explained, postpartum haemorrhage occurs in 1 in 5 women, and if not handled quickly, it can lead to shock, organ failure, and even death in extreme cases. “I had complete faith in my doctor,” Hailey said. “So I was at peace, knowing he would never let anything bad happen to me. But I was bleeding a lot, and people die, and that’s a thought that crosses your mind.”
“Suddenly, your partner sees you as a goddess, a superhero,” Hailey added with a smile, saying Justin seemed enthusiastic about the new role and told her, ” I’m living the life I’ve always dreamed of.”

Hailey Bieber on Justin Bieber’s divorce speculation
Hailey revealed dealing with postpartum body dysmorphia, a phenomenon where you start hating your own body. In her case, she recalled scrolling through tabloids just to find the most cruel comment aimed at her or her marriage, and then feeling worse. “And having to do all this while constantly reading falsehoods on the internet like ‘They’re getting divorced’ or ‘They’re no longer happy together’ is something that really drives you crazy. I’m not even sure I can explain it. It’s a crazy life,” she said.
She called Justin “an extraordinary father, a natural,” and a husband who truly loves her. For this reason, she insisted that most of what’s written about her “isn’t real.” “That’s the point,” she said. “I have a real life. It’s the one I share with my wonderful family, with my friends, with the people who know me and love me.” Speaking on their relocation rumours and Bieber’s worsening mental health, Hailey added, “Headlines like that, completely meaningless, appear every two days.” Describing how a swarm of paparazzi begun to gather furtively outside her house she said, ” For us, Los Angeles has become impossible ,” she continues. “We love it…” And it’s clear that the implication is “despite everything.”
In a statement shared with Vogue earlier, Justin also addressed the scrutiny and defended his wife, saying, “She’s in the spotlight, and has the attention because of her effortless knack for style, business, art and fashion,” he said. “And the way she makes being a mom and wife look easy.”
