The facelifted Hyundai Verna has been spotted once again, this time on public roads in South Korea. The latest spy images offer the clearest look yet at the mid-cycle update and confirm that Hyundai is concentrating its efforts on revising the front and rear sections of the sedan.

The test mule was seen wearing heavy camouflage on the nose and tail, while the side profile appears completely unchanged. This suggests that the overall silhouette, proportions, and body panels will remain the same, with Hyundai opting for cosmetic tweaks rather than a full redesign. Interestingly, this South Korea-spec prototype closely mirrors the camouflaged Verna that was previously spotted testing in India.

Details such as the ORVMs, window line, and character creases look identical to the current model. Even the alloy wheels appear to be carried over from the India-spec Verna, reinforcing the idea that changes are largely skin deep.

Front and rear to get fresh styling

At the rear, the camouflage hides the tail lamp cluster. Hyundai is expected to retain the connected LED tail-lamp setup, but with updated internal graphics for a sharper and more modern look. The front end is likely to see more noticeable changes, including a revised grille, reworked headlamps, updated DRL signatures, and a refreshed bumper design to keep the Verna visually in line with Hyundai’s newer models.

Interior updates could be the highlight

While exterior updates seem subtle, the cabin is expected to receive more meaningful improvements. Earlier spy shots hinted at a new curved dual-screen layout. The current Verna already features twin 10.25-inch displays, but the facelift could bring upgraded hardware, smoother software, and possibly enhanced connectivity features.

Safety is also expected to get a boost. The existing Verna already boasts a 5-star Global NCAP rating for both adult and child occupants. For the 2026 update, Hyundai is likely to further refine its Level 2 ADAS suite, potentially adding more advanced driver assistance functions or improving system calibration.

Powertrains to stay the same

Under the hood, no changes are expected. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 113 hp and 143.8 Nm will continue with a 6-speed manual and IVT options. The more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, delivering 157 hp and 253 Nm, will remain available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. These engines continue to be among the most refined and performance-oriented in the segment.

With these updates, the Verna will look to strengthen its position against key rivals like the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus.
