If you are planning to buy a new SUV in January 2026, the upcoming Renault Duster is worth considering.

Renault Duster will return to the Indian market on January 26, 2026. This is not an all-new name for India. The Duster was on sale here until 2022 and was among the models that helped establish the compact SUV segment when it first arrived. Renault is now bringing it back in a new-generation form that has already been on sale in several global markets.

What will the India-spec Duster look like?

Design-wise, the India-spec Duster will be largely similar to the international version, with a few market-specific changes. One visible difference is the connected tail-lamp setup seen in the official teaser, a feature not offered on the global model. The SUV retains a bulky, upright stance, with a strong shoulder line, chunky front fascia, LED lighting all around, faux skid plates at both ends and prominent body cladding. The bold “RENAULT” lettering on the grille seen internationally is also expected to carry over.

What can you expect inside the cabin?

Inside, the new Duster will have a functional, utilitarian layout but with modern equipment. Expected features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Renault is also likely to offer a stronger safety package this time, with six airbags, ISOFIX mounts and the possibility of an ADAS suite, though final specifications are yet to be confirmed.

What engines could be offered in India?

Engine options for the India-spec Duster have not been officially announced. Internationally, the SUV is offered with a 1.0-litre LPG unit producing 100 PS and 170 Nm, a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol mild-hybrid making 130 PS and 230 Nm, and a 1.6-litre strong hybrid with 145 PS and 205 Nm. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and an e-CVT, with front-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive available on select variants abroad.

How will it be priced, and who will it take on?

Pricing is expected to start around 10 lakh (ex-showroom). In this range, the Duster will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Honda Elevate.
