NEW DELHI -India plans to open up its electricity retail market for private companies, ending the dominance of state-run distributors in some states, according to draft regulations proposed by the federal power ministry.
The move will allow private companies such as Adani Power, Tata Power, Torrent Power and CESC to strengthen their presence in the country.
