Julian McMahon cause of death
Speaking to Deadline, Julian McMahon’s wife Kelly, confirmed that the actor died on July 2 in Clearwater, Florida, after a private battle with cancer. In her statement, she said, “With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.” She added, “Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.” Kelly also asked for space and privacy as the family grieves. “And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories,” she said.
McMahon was the son of former Australian Prime Minister William McMahon. His longtime association with Ryan Murphy’s show, where he played the complicated Dr. Christian Troy, made him a household name. At the same time, his turn as Cole Turner in Charmed, playing Alyssa Milano’s on-screen love interest, turned him into a fan favourite. He got his start in Aussie soaps like The Power, the Passion and Home and Away, before landing his first film role in the 1992 comedy Wet and Wild Summer, opposite Elliott Gould and Christopher Atkins. Post-Nip/Tuck, McMahon took on FBI: Most Wanted, where he played Special Agent Jess LaCroix, mentoring a younger task force. He joined the series in 2020 and stayed on until 2022.
After exiting the show, he told Deadline, “I’m extremely proud of the work we have done together and put the development of this show, and my character Jess, at the top of my professional experience list. I wish the show, and its cast and crew the greatest success in the future. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play Jess. He is a good man.” McMahon’s most recent appearance was in Netflix, The Residence, which was cancelled after just one season. “What shocking news,” FBI: Most Wanted producer Dick Wolf said in a statement to Variety. “All of us at Wolf Entertainment are deeply saddened by Julian’s passing, and our condolences go out to his entire family.”
Julian McMahon was previously married to Australian singer Dannii Minogue. He later got married to Baywatch star Brooke Burns, with whom he also shared a 25-year-old daughter, Elizabeth. He married Kelly Paniagua in 2014.
