Kajol recently praised the new generation of Bollywood stars for creating their unique identities, singling out Alia Bhatt for her impressive rise in the industry.

When asked by India Today about the most promising talents among Gen-Z actors, Kajol said, “Alia, I think she has proven herself quite a bit. So, I mean, yeah… Then you have Ananya, Janhvi, Sara – the regular – all of them.”

‘Gen-Z actors are not following anyone’s footprints’

Additionally, Kajol, expressed admiration for how today’s actors are distinctly different from those of her era. “I’m very happy to say that there is none,” she remarked when questioned if any young actor reminded her of her own generation from the ‘90s. “It’s not an arrogant statement or anything like that. But each one of the actors that we have has very clearly made their own world. They are not following anyone’s footprints, and they shouldn’t. It’s a different world today.”

She also elaborated on the evolving mindset of actors today, highlighting their clear sense of identity and choice in roles. “They are very clearly following their own ideas about what films they should and shouldn’t do. And they’re even clearer about who they are. Their identity is pretty much set in stone, and it’s not a map of anybody else,” Kajol said.

Currently, Kajol is busy promoting her upcoming film Maa, scheduled for release in theatres on June 27. Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Alpha, which is set to be the next big release from Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe after War 2. Alia’s last theatrical release, Jigra, underperformed at the box office, and she was also subjected to significant online hate and criticism for her performance.
