Just a day after Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada came under a gunfire attack, the cafe has opened up about the incident and posted a message for all the people who have shown their support through these testing times. In the message posted on its Instagram stories, the cafe staff thanked the entire community for all the messages they have received and even extended gratitude to the police department of Surrey, British Columbia, for all that they have done in the matter.

The message read, “A Message from the Heart: We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock, but we are not giving up.” The cafe, which is very much still in its nascent stage, continued and said, “Thank you for your support, your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM. Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Cafe remains a place of warmth and community. See you soon under better skies.”

Khalistani group takes responsibility for firing at Kapil’s cafe

In a horrific turn of events, the cafe was attacked on Wednesday night around 1:50 a.m., and the police department was on the scene immediately. Reportedly, 8 shots were fired at the cafe, and according to the initial investigation, the intention behind the attack was unclear. Later Harjit Singh Laddi, a member of the banned terror group BKI (Babbar Khalsa International), claimed responsibility for the attack and said that the attack took place due to some comments from Kapil about Nihangs.

With Kapil Sharma Show returning on Netflix, the comedian certainly has his plate full. Only time will tell whether the cafe will be able to bounce back to full capacity, as an attack like this does instil fear in the minds of the customers. The cafe was launched just a week prior by the comedian and his wife, Ginni Chatrath, and the couple will be hoping that the place is up and running as quickly as possible.
