The aftermath of the attack on Saif Ali Khan in January by an intruder at his Mumbai home turned uglier after trolls and TV channels targeted Kareena Kapoor Khan and speculated about her whereabouts during the time of the incident. Some comments even questioned the intensity and authenticity of the attack on Saif. In a recent interaction, Kareena recalled that traumatic time and expressed her displeasure over some of the cruel comments made against her and her family during such a difficult period, especially about where she was after Saif was attacked.
‘Is that what humanity has come’
Speaking on Mojo Story to Barkha Dutt, Kareena questioned the media’s coverage of Saif’s attack and also raised concerns about the type of content the audience is consuming and being fed. She said, “It was utter garbage. It makes me really… not angry because it is a really bad kind of an emotion, I never want to be angry because I don’t think it is in me, but I just feel really sad that that’s what humanity has come. Is that the kind of consumption that people really want? Is that what we are going to give them? Are you going to laud other people’s grief?”
She added, “That is what makes me sad. Is this the digital age that we’re talking about? Because that’s not where we all belong because humanity is much more than just consumption.”
In the same interaction, Kareena admitted that the incident shook her to the core, but she had to brave through the anxiety and sleeplessness that followed. “I am still kind of struggling with what it does to see someone there in your child’s room,” she said, adding, “We have still not come to terms 100 per cent. At least I haven’t. I was very anxious for the first couple of months. It was very difficult to sleep and get back to the person with that kind of normalcy.”
About Saif Ali Khan’s attack
For the unversed, Saif was attacked by an intruder who had entered the house in an attempted robbery. The intruder had managed to enter the room of Kareena’s younger son, Jeh Ali Khan. After a house staff member noticed the intruder and raised an alarm, Saif came rushing in and stopped him, but was stabbed during the scuffle. He was later taken to the hospital with Taimur in an auto-rickshaw and underwent two surgeries.
