Vijay Deverakonda’s latest film Kingdom was supposed to be his comeback film. But, as per response by fans on X, it seems it is also receiving a mixed response. After his movie released in theaters today, his fans took to social media to share their reviews. While many fans spoke about how it is strong as drama and appreciated Vijay’s performance, a few complained about the “shaky” second half, which had them “confused” and made them “disconnect” from the film. Others also expressed their disappointment in the film’s leading lady Bhagyashri Borse’s performance.

A user wrote, “Kingdom is an action drama that is technically very strong and works well on the drama front, though it falters somewhat in terms of emotional depth.”

 

Another user wrote, “Everything feels forced. Nothing worked for me. Kingdom is cheaper, flawed version of Devara.”

A user shared, “Movie is a bit confusing at parts.”

 

Other X reviews read, “Last 20 minutes I felt disconnected. But, well executed climax.” “Solid first half, shaky second half”, wrote another user.

 

 

 

The film, directed by Gautam Tinnauri was Vijay Deverakonda’s first film after his 2024 flop The Family Star. The actor was briefly seen in the Nag Ashwin directorial Kalki 2898 AD. However, his character was only teased in the first part with no update about the film’s second installment. Vijay has not seen a success since his 2018 film Geetha Govindam.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has earned just Rs 2.38 crore at the box office as of 12 pm. Despite negative reviews, it is suggested that Kingdom will turn out to be the biggest opener in Vijay’s career after Kushi which scored nearly Rs 26 crore gross worldwide. According to Sacnilk, Kingdom’s opening day pre-sales earned Rs 17 crores gross including the premiere show. As per the trend, the film will likely open at over 30 crore gross worldwide.
