MTV has officially announced the nominees for the Video Music Awards 2025. Topping the list is Lady Gaga, leading with 12 nominations, including three big nods for Mayhem. Right behind her is Bruno Mars, who grabbed 11 nominations, and his collaboration with K-pop sensation and BLACKPINK member Rosé stood out to be one of the biggest all-time achievers. Kendrick Lamar follows with 10, with most of his nods tied to his powerful track Not Like Us. This time, the VMAs have added two more categories to the list, including Best Pop Artist and Best Country Video, and the first-time nominees in this list are Alex Warren, Blake Shelton, Gigi Perez, Lainey Wilson, and Mac Miller.
2025 VMAs are scheduled to be held at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on September 7. For the first time, the event will be aired on CBS alongside the home channel MTV. Viewers can also stream it on Paramount+. The show is being produced by former MTV head Van Toffler and his company Gunpowder & Sky.

K-pop scored big this year with names like BTS’ Jimin and Stray Kids making it to the list. Rosé, with eight nominations, tied with Sabrina Carpenter, making them the second-most nominated female artists this year. Ariana Grande and The Weeknd bagged seven each, Billie Eilish scored six, and Charli XCX landed five. Meanwhile, Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus, and Tate McRae each walked away with four nominations.
In the Video of the Year category, the nominees include Ariana Grande for Brighter Days Ahead, Billie Eilish for Birds of a Feather, Kendrick Lamar for Not Like Us, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars for Die with a Smile, Rosé and Mars for Apt., Sabrina Carpenter for Manchild, and The Weeknd with Playboi Carti for Timeless.
For Artist of the Year, the contenders are Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd. Meanwhile, the Best New Artist category features Alex Warren, Ella Langley, Gigi Perez, Lola Young, Sombr, and The Marías.
