The Jonas Brothers recently sat down for a one-hour chat on Lewis Howes’ School of Greatness podcast (July 9 episode). For the first time in a while, the trio opened up about life, the band’s breakup, music, and, most importantly, their daughters, who they say have completely changed them, especially after growing up in an all-boys household. Nick, meanwhile, couldn’t stop gushing about Priyanka Chopra as he shared the kind of advice he’d want to give his daughter when she grows up. He also opened up about the early days of parenthood, how overwhelming and, at times, downright frightening it was. He credited their parents for being the backbone of resilience, saying it’s their values and lessons that help you find your way through the situation.

Nick Jonas calls Priyanka Chopra a ‘saint’, an amazing woman

Host Lewis Howes asked Nick what lesson he’d want to leave behind for his daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas if it were his last day on earth. Nick replied, “You will never regret being kind, even when it seems impossible. Make sure the door is always open and the table gets bigger. Everyone is always welcome in our home. They have a place to stay and a place to eat.” He followed that up by showering praise on his wife, saying, “Your mother is a saint. She has never done a single thing wrong in her entire life. She’s the best.”

The Waffle House singer then called Priyanka an amazing woman and the best partner he could ask for, someone equally brilliant, and walking side by side with her makes him feel proud. “I think having an amazing teammate in my wife, and just, you know, the woman that she is,  has helped me and my daughter. We’ve all benefited from that. And, you know, it’s amazing to be able to walk side by side with someone as brilliant as her,” he said, adding, “It makes being a dad even more special.”

Nick Jonas opens up about ‘frightening’ parenthood journey

The host asked Nick what changed in him after becoming a girl dad, and the singer didn’t hold back from letting his emotions flow. He called their initial journey into parenthood “frightening,” remembering the time when Malti was in the NICU for nearly two and a half months. He said that phase was a real test, not just for her, but for them as parents. He then shared how learning to navigate situations when life feels like it’s falling apart comes straight from their own parents, and the lessons they passed down. “How you react says everything about who your parents are and how they raised you, and the foundation you have. Luckily, our parents raised us to take that moment, breathe, cry if you need to, do what you have to do, but then stand firm and make a game plan.” Nick said they didn’t let it break them. The couple pulled themselves together and faced it head-on. “We stayed calm. I leaned on family and friends to get through that. And to have my first test as a father be one of the hardest,  hopefully the hardest we’ll ever go through, says a lot.”

Meanwhile, in a separate Vogue interview, Priyanka Chopra praised Nick as the ‘perfect man’ and a blessing in her life, recalling the Met Gala moment, the first time they walked together, as one of her life’s best chapters and best decisions. Priyanka recently made a Hollywood comeback with Head of State, while Nick returned to Broadway with The Last Five Years.
