YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, aka BeerBiceps, confirmed that he is single after it was rumoured that he’d been dumped following the India’s Got Latent controversy. While chatting with actor Tara Sutaria on the latest episode of his podcast, he said that is a ’32-year-old man’, and is ‘building a castle’ for himself that others are welcome to visit, but he wouldn’t be chasing love any time soon. Ranveer courted controversy when he made a joke that was perceived as distasteful on comedian Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent variety show. Despite apologising, he was hit with FIRs and was questioned by the police. During this time, his work was also impacted, and he’s now putting out fewer episodes than he used to.
In the new episode, he spoke to Tara about finding love, and the regrets that he feels about how he behaved in his 20s. He said, “I think I chased love too hard… I think if one has a burning desire to find deep romance in life, they’re meant to find it. That burning desire is still there in me now, but it burnt me so much on the inside… I just wanted a wife so bad. But something switches after you’re 30. But it’s not in my hands. My chart says it has to be a delayed marriage, because there’s work to be done. And that’s probably my only way of self-actualising this issue. As a guy, I’ve just buried that want… There’s so much pain I’ve buried so deep, and a lot of it is from broken romance. I don’t have any expectations from a partner to come and heal my pain, because that’s unfair… The women in my life; my mom, my sister, my niece, my girl, who is yet to come, I want them to have a soft experience of life…”
Following the India’s Got Latent controversy, Ranveer’s rumoured girlfriend, Nikki Sharma, had shared a series of cryptic posts on social media. “There will come a time when you will lose everything, including your mind. Once you’ve lost your mind, you’ll be left with nothing but your soul – this is when you’ll know you’re invincible,” she shared. The post was originally shared by the Spiritual League. Before that, she’d written in another post, “Your body doesn’t just reject food; it also rejects energy. If your body starts rejecting certain places, people, or things, trust it and listen.”
Ranveer was targeted online and in real life when, appearing on India’s Got Latent, he asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day or join them to finish it once and for all?” After being barred from producing new content, he was given relief by the Supreme Court when he alleged that his freedom of speech and expression was being curtailed. He returned to podcasting not long afterwards.
In December, Ranveer opened up in a post about having escaped a near-death experience with his girlfriend while holidaying in Goa. “We’re perfectly fine and well now. But yesterday at 6:00 pm or so, my girlfriend and I had to be rescued from a bit of a situation,” he wrote. He mentioned that he has always loved swimming in the open sea, and has been doing so since he was a child, but isn’t accustomed to having others with him. Nikki Sharma is a television actor who has appeared in shows such as Pyaar Ka Pehla Adhyaya Shiv Shakti, Mind the Malhotras, and Dehleez.
In a previous episode of his podcast, Ranveer had opened up about realising that not every person in his life during the controversy was ‘real’. “‘Haan, unn rishtedaaro ka character dikh gaya jo log fake friends the unka character dikh gaya. Par iske saath saath bohot logo ke acche characters bhi dikh jaate hain. Jo actual kareebi dost hain voh saare mere liye the. They were all present. Bohot saare mentors aaye. Kuch kuch aise log hain jinse main kabhi zindagi main mila bhi nahi hoon, baat bhi nahi hui hai. Unn logo ne saamne se call karke madad kari (The friends who are truly close to me were all there for me. They were all present. Many mentors came too. There were even some people whom I’ve never met in my life, never even spoken to — and they reached out on their own and offered help). I’m just treating this phase as an opportunity to grow.”
