Mohit Suri’s romantic musical Saiyaara has taken the nation by storm, and its box office momentum shows no signs of slowing down. In just six days, the film has shattered multiple box office records and is now heading towards what could be a historic theatrical lifetime haul. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Saiyaara earned approximately Rs 21 crore (India net) on its sixth day, i.e., Wednesday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 153.25 crore. While this marks a slight drop from Tuesday’s earnings of Rs 24 crore, the dip was anticipated due to Tuesday’s discounted ticket pricing at select national cinema chains. What’s particularly impressive is that the Day 6 figure nearly mirrors the film’s opening day haul, an extremely rare feat, especially for a film led by fresh faces. In fact, Saiyaara is outperforming some of post-pandemic Bollywood’s biggest blockbusters, such as Jawan and Pathaan, particularly in terms of weekday retention and footfalls.

On Wednesday, Saiyaara recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 36.29%. It began the day with a strong 21.14% in morning shows, rose to 36.93% in the afternoon, increased further to 39.00% in the evening, and peaked at 48.08% during night shows. Among regions, tier-two cities are emerging as key contributors. Jaipur led with 58% occupancy, followed by Lucknow at 44.25%. Traditional strongholds like Bengaluru (48.50%), Delhi-NCR (40%), and Mumbai (31.75%) are also showing solid performance.

In terms of records, Saiyaara has already surpassed Salman Khan’s Eid release Sikandar and is inching closer to the lifetime collection of Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 164.74 crore), a milestone it is expected to cross today. The next targets in sight are Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 (Rs 179.3 crore) and Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 (Rs 198.41 crore), both well within reach, especially with Saiyaara poised for a strong second weekend.

This breakout success is particularly significant for its leads. While this marks the debut of Ahaan Panday, cousin of Ananya Panday, his co-star Aneeta Padda had previously appeared in Salaam Venky, which had a modest Day 6 earning of Rs 2.27 crore. The overwhelming love and attention they’ve received mark a major breakthrough. Saiyaara has already overtaken the lifetime collections of earlier star-kid debuts like Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan’s Student of the Year (Rs 70 crore) and Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s Dhadak (Rs 73 crore).

With no major releases lined up for another week, until Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2, Saiyaara enjoys a wide-open field to break more records and continue stunning the industry and audiences alike.
