Actor Shefali Jariwala passed away at her residence in Mumbai on June 27. A prayer meet in memory of the 42-year-old star was held in Mumbai on July 2. It was attended by her family members and close friends.

A heart-wrenching video circulating on social media shows Shefali’s father in an inconsolable state, while Parag Tyagi, who was also visibly emotional, is seen hugging him.

Singer Mika Singh also attended the prayer meeting. In a clip, he was seen supporting Shefali’s grieving mother as she made her way to her car. TV actors and Shefali Jariwala’s close friends like Paras Chhabra and Vishal Aditya Singh, among others, were also seen at the prayer meet.

Shefali Jariwala, who was best known for her appearance in the music video of “Kaanta Laga”, was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri by her husband Parag Tyagi and others on Friday night, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

A police official told PTI Jariwala had been fasting on Friday for a puja at her home, and that taking various medications on an empty stomach may have caused her blood pressure to drop, leading to her collapse. The official added that she had received an injection that afternoon, possibly for anti-ageing, and had also taken her usual dose of pills that night.

“Her blood pressure dropped drastically and she began shivering, following which family members rushed her to hospital,” he added.

The Amboli police have so far recorded statements from 10 people, including her husband, parents, and house-help, but nothing suspicious has been found so far, the official said.

An accidental death report has been registered, and further investigation is underway. The post-mortem report is awaited, the official said.
