Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection day 7: Even though the film is headlined by Aamir Khan, Sitaare Zameen Par isn’t the usual blockbuster movie. However, the film has been performing quite well during its first week at the box office, and according to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s India nett collection has grown to Rs 89.15 crore. The Aamir-Genelia Deshmukh-starrer should be able to cross the Rs 100 crore mark during the upcoming weekend.
The film has earned a total of Rs 6.75 crore on Wednesday. The worldwide collection of the film has already crossed the Rs 130 mark. For comparison, Aamir’s Ghajini earned Rs 114 crore nett during its entire box office run, and Thugs of Hindostan earned Rs 145 crore. Aamir and the entire cast and crew will be hoping to go beyond those numbers, as it would not only signal a win for the film but also for Aamir’s fight against short theatrical windows. The actor made it very clear during the press run for the film that he does not want to release the film on OTT platforms for at least a year after its theatrical run. He even rejected a Rs 120 crore deal to prove his point.
Competing with Kuberaa (Rs 69 crore) and Housefull 5 (Rs 180 crore), the occupancy rates of Sitaare Zameen Par have been low but have been consistent. The morning and afternoon shows contributed 8.22% and 13.56% occupancy, while the evening and night shows managed 15.99% and 19.25%. The film has already surpassed the lifetime earnings of Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), which earned only Rs 61.36 crore, and the lifetime earnings of its spiritual predecessor Taare Zameen Par (2007), starring Darsheel Safary and Tisca Chopra along with Aamir.
While Taare Zameen Par focused on dyslexia, its successor deals with neurodivergence. Aamir yet again plays the role of a teacher, but in this case he doesn’t willingly impart knowledge and is ordered by the court to teach the kids the game of basketball. Directed by RS Prasanna, the cast of the film includes Aamir, Genelia Deshmukh, Gurpal Singh, Gopi Krishna Varma, Aroush Dutta, Vedant Sharma, Naman Mishra, Rishabh Jain, Rishi Sahani, Ashish Pendse, Samvit Desai, Ayush Bhansali, Simran Mangeshkar, Dolly Ahluwalia, and Brijendra Kala.
