Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection day 8: Aamir Khan’s comedy to pass Rs 100 crore mark today, surpasses Sunny Deol’s Jaat | Bollywood News

After a fairly strong first week at the box office, Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par entered its second week on Friday (Day 8) with early estimates suggesting it earned Rs 6.5 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film’s total domestic collection now stands at Rs 94.4 crore, and it is expected to cross the coveted Rs 100 crore milestone on Saturday (Day 9).

On Friday, Sitaare Zameen Par recorded an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 18.43%. Occupancy steadily increased throughout the day, with morning shows at 7.07%, afternoon at 15.36%, evening at 20.04%, and night shows peaking at 31.23%. Regionally, Chennai continued to lead in occupancy, registering a remarkable 54.67%, followed by Bengaluru at 28.25%. In comparison, major markets like the National Capital Region (NCR) and Mumbai lagged behind with 19% and 18.5% respectively. Language-wise, the film performed better in Tamil, with an overall occupancy of 26.05%. The Telugu version maintained parity with Hindi, recording a 17.68% occupancy rate.

Globally, Sitaare Zameen Par has grossed Rs. 140.38 crore after its first week, closing in on the lifetime worldwide collections of Thugs of Hindostan (Rs. 145.55 crore) and Kesari Chapter 2 (Rs. 145.73 crore). The film has already surpassed Sunny Deol’s Jaat, which ended its run at Rs. 120.6 crore.

Despite upcoming competition from new releases such as Brad Pitt’s F1: The Move and Kajol’s Maa, Aamir Khan remains hopeful that Sitaare Zameen Par will sustain its momentum. The actor has been vocal about his commitment to longer theatrical windows. During the film’s promotional campaign, Aamir announced that he has no plans to release the film on OTT platforms for at least a year after its theatrical run, going so far as to turn down a Rs 120 crore streaming deal to reinforce his stand.
