South Korean actor Song Young-Kyu, who was popular for his performance as Chief Choi in Extreme Job (2019), was found dead in a parked car in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, south of Seoul on Monday. He was 55.
Song’s death comes roughly two weeks after he was found involved in a DUI incident in Yongin. The actor was found driving under the influence and his license was revoked under the South Korean law. Song was referred to prosecution without detention. The offence is considered very serious in the South Korean society and he had to eventually step down from a stage production of Shakespeare in Love as well as ENA’s The Defects and SBS’s The Winning Try.
On Monday, Song Young-Kyu was allegedly found unconscious inside a parked vehicle by an acquaintance. After the police were alerted, an investigation was launched into his death and the circumstances surrounding it. Police confirmed there were no signs of foul play and no suicide note was found.
He was said to be extremely concerned by the DUI charges and its aftermath. As per Koreaboo, “He was distressed by the malicious articles and comments, and the circumstances were extremely unfavourable at that time.”
