Tom Holland has finally given a peek inside his new Spidey costume, and it looks like we’re getting some legendary vibes back. After teasing the makeover on August 1, celebrating National Spider-Man Day, the actor dropped the full look Saturday morning, not just with a glimpse, but a short video. The reveal landed just hours after Holland opened up about taking a break from acting. The actor in recent years has spoken candidly about prioritising mental health, stepping back from social media, and even quitting drinking.

Tom Holland unveils new Spider-Man costume from Brand New Day
Holland posted a short video where he steps out of the shadows in his new Spider-Man: Brand New Day costume and says, “We ready?” Fans instantly noticed that the suit has brighter red and blue tones and a noticeably larger spider logo across his chest. This is a big change from the suits we saw in Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home. In no time, the internet was talking about how this new version looks more like the classic suits worn by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Holland’s upcoming film already seems to have landed in the good books of Spidey fans, thanks to the costume giving off some serious OG vibes.

This is Holland’s fourth Spider-Man solo film, set to release on July 31, 2026. According to the description, the movie has already entered production, with shooting underway in England. It picks up right after No Way Home, where Peter Parker erased himself from everyone’s memory to save the multiverse. In doing so, he was even forced to wipe the memories of his girlfriend MJ (played by Zendaya), best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), and even the Avengers. Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) had also died in the last movie. Jon Bernthal is set to return as the Punisher/Frank Castle. Meanwhile, as per THR, Mark Ruffalo is back as the Hulk/Bruce Banner, alongside Michael Mando as Scorpion, who first showed up in 2017’s Homecoming.

The movie is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for Shang Chi. The script comes from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the same duo behind No Way Home. While the official plot and synopsis of the upcoming Spider-Man film haven’t been revealed yet, going by the Brand New Day comics, Peter Parker ends up striking a deal with Mephisto (basically Marvel’s devil) to save Aunt May. But in return, the world forgets his identity, and his marriage to MJ gets wiped along. Whether or not the film will follow this exact arc is still up in the air, but early theories hint at more of a fresh start. Holland himself teased it during CinemaCon earlier this year, saying: “Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It’s exactly that. That’s all I can say.” Sadie Sink, of Stranger Things fame, and Liza Colón-Zayas are also stepping into the MCU with this film, though what roles they’re playing is still under wraps.
Earlier speaking to British GQ, Holland said, he feels “really blessed to be at a point in my career where I can take time off, reset, and come back ready to go.” The 29-year-old continued: “You can’t be in every movie, and you can’t do your best work when you’re burnt out. What I’ve learnt is that it’s important to set boundaries, to be mindful about overworking.”
