The trailer of actor Anupam Kher‘s directorial comeback Tanvi The Great has finally been released. After being screened at several film festivals across the world, the movie will hit theatres on July 18. The film marks the debut of Shubhangi Dutt, who plays Tanvi, a neurodivergent girl determined to join the Indian Army, with her grandfather’s help.

Kher studio took to his Instagram handle to share the trailer and wrote, “In a world that saw her through a different lens, she kept shining with a light that could not be unseen. Her smile awakens hope, her heart builds courage, and her journey inspires us all. And now, she is here to meet you all. She is #TanviTheGreat. Trailer out now! Arriving in cinemas on 18th July.”

The three-minute trailer showcases Tanvi’s relationship with her grandfather (Anupam Kher) and mother, played by actor Pallavi Joshi. In the video, Shubhangi is motivated to honour the legacy of her late father by joining the Indian Army. Actor Arvind Swami can also be seen essaying a pivotal role in Tanvi The Great as he trains her to become an Army officer. The trailer ends with Shubhangi finally climbing Mount Everest as a group of soldiers hoist the Indian flag at the peak.

Directed by Anupam Kher and produced by Anupam Kher Studios in collaboration with the NFDC, the film also features Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Karan Tacker, Nasser and Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen. The music of the film has been composed by Oscar-winner M. M. Keeravani. The global distribution of the movie is being handled by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment and AA Films, led by Anil Thadani.

While talking about Tanvi The Great at Cannes this year, Anupam Kher said, “Everyone who watches Tanvi The Great will walk away a little kinder perhaps even changed. This film is my tribute to every person who is different but no less. It’s the story of an autistic, brilliant, and fiercely determined girl who dreams of joining the Indian Army. This is one of the most important films of my career, and I’m confident audiences in India will connect with it just as deeply as those around the world already have.”
