During the early years of their collaboration, Rajinikanth reportedly developed strong feelings for Sridevi. Their effortless chemistry lit up screens across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema. Yet, very few were aware that Rajinikanth once intended to ask for her hand in marriage. Filmmaker K. Balachander, who was instrumental in shaping both their careers, once shared a poignant incident: Rajinikanth had arrived at Sridevi’s housewarming party, determined to confess his love. But just as he reached, a sudden power outage left the house in complete darkness. Deeply superstitious, Rajinikanth took it as a sign, an ill omen, and quietly walked away.
